Color Run

Save the date on your calendar - Our end of the year celebratory Color Run event will be held in the early evening on Thursday, May 18th. This will be our 5th annual Electa Quinney Color Run!
This year the color run will be in the evening for both students and families to participate. The run/walk will take place around Electa Quinney School (typically a 1.5 mi format). Participants will be showered with colored powder, made of food-grade corn starch, at color stations along the route. We refrain from booklet sale fundraisers and use this as our main fundraiser; beyond the cost of materials and the event, the remainder goes to benefit the students supporting end of the year activities and future events such as teacher classroom materials, student birthday books, speakers, field trips and assemblies, family/community events, and more.

Help us meet out goal and win fun incentives on the way!

T-shirt sales for the Color Run this year are optional.  Students and families can wear any white shirt, a past Color Run shirt, or realistically ANY shirt.  We have decided since this is a family evening event we will not order for all students.  Due to the way we are running the event this year we cannot collect orders and hand out at the event, so there is a small window to order via Eagle Graphics for any interested staff, students, family or friends.  This will go out in the kick-off email sent to families on April 25th.

T-shirt sales for the Color Run this year are optional.  Students and families can wear any white shirt, a past Color Run shirt, or realistically ANY shirt for the Color Run.  There is the possibility of some color remaining, however, we have found over the years that the colored powder washes out of clothing.  There is a small window to order a Color Run t-shirt if you or your student, family, or friends would like to have one.  Again, Color Run specific t-shirts are NOT REQUIRED to participate.  Visit the Eagle Graphics Online Store below to purchase.

P.E News

Colby B. sets the Electa Quinney 20 meter PACER test record with 101 completed laps on 4/19/23. The PACER test measures a students aerobic capacity as the students run 20 meters in increasingly faster timed segments. This is the highest score seen in the past decade. Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 has been topped!

Kiyah S. in second grade - you read that right - just a second grader set the yearly record for push ups for the Fitnessgram Push-Up test. Kiyah completed 37 strict form push ups. She had the highest score of all Electa Quinney and NDLC students.

APRIL Focus = COURAGE

PurposeFull Pursuit:

Review Courage as a family! Remember that Courage is choosing what is helpful, right, and kind - even when it’s hard or scary. What’s something that you’ve been afraid to discuss with your student? Something that might be difficult to explain about our community or the world. Chances are they will hear about it eventually and it may come from someone who is less informed or less supportive than you. Have a courageous conversation with your student. It could be about bullying, the environment, uncertainty, etc. Remind them that love and support are 2 tools that we can use to practice Courage. Discuss ways to practice Courage around the issue you discuss.

Conversation Starters:

  • How do you know if you are showing Courage?
  • Can you share a time this week when you were not able to practice flexible thinking? What could you have done differently?
