Mind and Body Smart - Kids Heart Challenge

Pencil our next Family Night date in your calendar - Thursday, February 13th. Keep your mind and body sharp at our EQ Family Event. This will be an Open House format (come and go as you wish, do not need to attend entire time) with 20+ centers/stations set up in both gyms and a dance sponsored by the PAC for kids and parents.

Materials came home this past week with students to begin participating in the Kids Heart Challenge and raising funds to help kids with special hearts and making communities stronger. Students will be learning about taking care of their heart and participating in cardio activities. MAP Testing continues this week through January 28th.  All 2nd grade - 4th grade students will be taking the Winter MAP tests (Reading approx. 45 min, Math approx. 45 min).  The questions on these tests help to show how much students have grown from the fall until now and from year to year.  There is nothing students need to prepare for these tests.  Suggestions of things that can help your child do their best are...

• Make sure your child has a good night's rest
• Have your child eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school. 
• Encourage our child to do their best!

School Confirmation Forms Due this Friday

Our 2nd and 3rd grade students received a School Confirmation Form on Jan. 8th.  Thank you for taking a moment to complete the form and return it to school with your child in his/her folder.  This information is used as we plan for classes and staffing for the next school year.  If you have any questions about your form, feel free to contact me at knapps@kaukaunasd.org, I would be happy to answer any questions so you feel informed as we move forward planning for '20-21.

Assembly - Matt Willhelm

Matt Wilhelm was the focus of our school assembly on January 7th.  He is one of the most popular school assemblies in the country. He speaks and performs at over 300 different schools PER YEAR. DECEMBER CARING PROJECT

Each year our Cougar Council student council members have chosen a project to educate, build and reinforce the character in our school community. This year the Cougar Council students have chosen to help out military personnel deployed overseas in honor of Adam Hall.  Adam is the husband of Amber Hall, an educational assistant for NDLC and Quinney school. He is also the father of Oliver, a fourth grade student at Quinney, and Lilah, a second grade student at Quinney School.  Adam’s troop was recently deployed and will be gone for 12-14 months. We are looking for our Quinney and NDLC families to donate personal care items, snacks, or money. The monetary donations will be used to cover the cost of shipping and to purchase extra supplies.    All items should be new and in original packaging. Thank you in advance for your help in supporting our troops.

We have our December Assembly on Monday morning.  Thank you to the 4th grade team for planning this assembly.  The Cougar Council Caring Project for December will be kicked off with students.  Local Veterans will be attending present the flags.

Thank You

We would like to take the opportunity to thank our families for visiting the Book Fair while at EQ for Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences.  The Book Fair was well shopped each day with a profit for us of more than $1500 Scholastic Dollars.  The Scholastic Dollars have been used for student book boxes in classrooms, class meeting rugs in classrooms, birthday books for every students to choose from on their birthday, and more.  Thank you for supporting your child(ren) and Electa Quinney.

We also send thanks to all families who donated to the Teacher Meals for the evenings of Parent/Student/Teacher conferences.  Our teachers greatly appreciate the generosity and caring.  Enjoying a warm prepared meal before entering into conferences is certainly a welcomed proposition!
