WI Forward Exam

Electa Quinney 4th grade students will begin the Wisconsin Forward Exam this week. 3rd grade students will begin the week of April 19th. Our testing at EQ should be primarily complete in April, however the window remains open through May 14, 2021.  The Forward Exam is a state mandated summative assessment which provides information about what students know and can do in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards.  Students receive a score based on their performance in each content area.  Please click on this Wisconsin Forward Exam Family Information Brochure link for more information about the exam.

Week of April 12-16 in the AM -- 4th Grade

Week of April 19-23 in the AM -- 4th Grade & 3rd Grade

Week of April 26-30 in the AM -- 4th Grade & 3rd Grade

There are sample or practice test questions available for students.  An Online Tools Training (OTT) is available for students at http://dpi.wi.gov/assessment/forward/sample-items. The OTT is intended to give students the opportunity to practice with tools available on the Forward Exam, as well as allow them to familiarize themselves with the testing platform. The OTT is not scored. Students will be exploring these tools and training at school prior to testing.

The Forward Exam will be administered online and be given to:

  • Grades 3-8 in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics,

  • Grades 4 and 8 in Science and,

  • Grades 4, 8, and 10 in Social Studies

The Forward Exam includes several question types:

  • Multiple-Choice (MC): Question that has four answer choices, including three distractors and one correct answer.

  • Enhanced Selected Response (ESR): Question which may contain combinations of multiple choice, short-answer, and technology-enhanced

  • Evidence-Based Selected Response (ESBR): Question which has two parts.  The student answers Part A, then provides evidence in Part B to support the answer in Part A.

  • Technology-Enhanced (TE): TE questions allow for a more engaging, interactive assessment.

Accommodations and supports for students with disabilities and/or English language learners are built into the system so that the progress of students can be accurately measured.

The estimated time for the test administration in each grade is approximately 70 minutes for ELA, 90 minutes for Mathematics, 90 minutes for Science, and 70 minutes for Social Studies.  These are estimated times, as the WI Forward Exam is not a timed test so students work at their own pace.

If you have any questions or concerns about the assessment, please contact the school office.

Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week

Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness week is this week.  We will take this time to review our safety plans in severe weather and tornado warnings.  On April 15, Wisconsin will once again conduct its annual statewide tornado drill. At 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., everyone is encouraged to pause what they are doing and practice going to their designated shelter location. Againi this year there will be no alerts on NOAA Weather Radios or on TV. Instead, there may be messages on social media from ReadyWisconsin, the National Weather Service, and Wisconsin Broadcasters across the state reminding you about tornado safety.  Some communities may still choose to test their outdoor warning sirens during the drill times. However, it is expected many will instead rely on their regular testing schedules to ensure those devices are working properly.  Governor Evers encourages everyone this spring to talk about weather safety during this Awareness Week.  As a family, take a moment this week to talk about your plans at home for taking shelter when severe weather or a tornado warning is issued.

Yeahhhhh, WE DID IT!!

Electa Quinney Elementary School / PAC not only hit, but suprassed, our total school goal of $15,000.00! We raised $16,056.00!
We're so thankful for all our parents and students who’ve supported our school with donations. We are amazed at the donations that came from both near and far. This has been by far our most successful fundraiser in 10 years! Our #QuinneyReads2021 Read-a-thon was a BLAST! Students had a lot of fun learning how to support a good cause. All the money that was raised will enrich and impact your child’s experience at Electa Quinney Elementary yet this school year and beyond. As indicated prior, we plan to support the initiatives below with all the funds raised. The last of the #QuinneyReads book shipments were received on Friday so we look forward giving students their book this week. We also will be having take 2 of the "Virtual Dance" and an all school movie yet in April. We had 35 Superstar students that raised $200 or more, earning the opportunity to "Pie Mrs. Knapp in the face". Thanks go to the multiple teachers who matched that incentive and were pied in the face along with Mrs. Knapp when a student in their class reached Superstar status!!! Waterbottles will be delivered when they arrive and walking field trips for ice cream are yet to come as well.

Thank you again for all your support!

Community Events and Activity Flyers

There are a great many worthy undertakings in the Kaukauna Area School District that understandably deserve public support. The Board of Education/School District assist with this process in providing notice to students and/or families of certain non-school-related community activities/programs that are for public school-age students (that apply and meet policy conditions). Click here or visit the school district website to view the up to date list of events and flyers.
